I paint mainly in acrylic and sometimes oil, and also oil over acrylic. I enjoy colour and texture and am always seeking to make my work appear loose and spontaneous. I try to steer away from realism and avoid labouring over a piece of work. My abstract work, painted in acrylic, is usually completed in one session, usually in less than 4 hours. Portraiture, in oils, can take much longer with repeated visits but I still strive to make them appear loose and spontaneous.

Whilst I am essentially self-taught I have completed a three year Open College of the Arts painting course, and a C & G Ceramics course along the way.
